Just two years later, astronauts David Scott and James Irwin (Apollo 15, 31st July 1971) roamed the Moon in a vehicle that allowed them to do much more than just walk - the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV). During the Apollo 17 mission, the rover travelled 22.3 miles in just 4 hours and 26 minutes. To this day, three LRVs rest on the lunar surface, awaiting their rediscovery.
