A thank you from Terezka's mom
Hello,
We would like to send a big thank you to all Monkey Mum customers for the financial donations you have provided to Terezka. We really appreciate it.
Terezka is still pushing on and making progress in her development, slowly but surely - she has recently started to crawl and her chewing is improving thanks to speech therapy.
The money you have raised will be used for Terezka's current ergotherapy sessions to help her develop other skills.
Once more, thank you all so much for the help you have lent us. We wish you all a relaxing time full of health and love.
Terezka's mother and family

Terezka

Terezka was born on 28 December 2021 by spontaneous birth, about three weeks early, as a "healthy baby girl".
For the first six weeks, she was a good, sleepy baby. Then she started to look around. She was bothered when on her tummy, crying a lot, spasming and bending sideways and arching. Later on, she wouldn't lift her head at all, and lying on her tummy was getting more and more difficult. The more she opened her tiny little eyes, the more we noticed them dropping and fluttering. We took her to the pediatrician for a consultation. Fortunately, our doctor acknowledged that something was wrong and referred us to the neurology department at the Thomayerova Hospital in Krč, Prague. The neurologist took us directly to the A&E and determined that Terezka's development was not going well, and we were scheduled for an MRI scan, which was to take place nearly three weeks later. Fortunately, a spot opened up two days after the checkup, which apparently saved Terezka from more serious consequences.
Owing to this early examination and diagnosis, it was found out after 14 days of hospitalization (at the age of three months) that Terezka suffered from congenital toxoplasmosis, which was not detected during pregnancy because it is not regularly tested for, and it managed to damage her eyesight and brain during that time. A blessing in disguise: the disease was still in an active phase, which allowed immediate treatment to be started with special medication given three times a day for a year.
Unfortunately, the disease has already irreversibly damaged Terezka's sharp vision, so that she will never be able to see the world as we do. As for the brain damage, its extent is not yet apparent, and of course, delayed psychomotor development is related to all of this and epilepsy can occur at any time. At thirteen months, Terezka cannot crawl, sit, walk, talk or even play patty cake, and because she refuses to bite, she can only eat soft food (yoghurt, baby food, milk).
Any financial contribution will be used exclusively for Terezka's needs. The money will cover all of her therapy sessions: Physical therapy, hippotherapy, speech therapy and special aids that can help Terezka develop her movement and intellect to explore our world.
Thank you very much for your support!
