How to play an emotion-based memory game?
This memory game can help you initiate a discussion about emotions in the way that is most natural for children... by playing a game. Simply play a regular memory game and start discussing how a character in one of the pictures might be feeling. What has made the little girl laugh, or, alternatively, what could have happened that made her sad? Does being sad always end in tears? Why do some people show their teeth when they smile and others do not? What does it mean? Why do people yawn? ...the number of possible questions is endless.
Making pairs or groups of cards can be another way to play the game.. Which facial expressions are associated with positive emotions and which relate to negative ones? Use the memory game cards to make stories.. The Boy Who Had to Be Treated, The Bored Girl Who Found a Hobby... There are no limits to the imagination. :)
Why don't little kids play memory games?
Their imperfect grip keeps them from turning the paper cards. This can easily be solved by our fabric memory game cards, which are thicker and therefore much easier to turn on any surface than paper cards.
